Traditionally, Black community has always rallied together to share wisdom and promote collective wellness. This time is no different. To celebrate awareness, resilience, power and belonging, the Our Peace, Our Power retreats offer a gentle place to pause from the pace of everyday life. The Retreats on line and in person are designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and return to yourself—through guided experiences, restorative space, and time to simply be.
April 25Nyinthun
A nyinthun is a mini meditation retreat that lasts for one day. It is a way to deepen practice and rejuvenate one’s energy, focus and inner balance. The April 25 online nyinthun will be a combination of sitting and walking meditation sessions. You will meet other Black meditation practitioners and together we will practice the age-old Black tradition of listening ourselves into our own wisdom. At the end of the day you will enjoy more calm, joy and energy.

Celebrate Community in Seattle
We explore the possibilities beyond this moment, making space for growth, action, and forward momentum. As we come together, we honor the experience, the growth, and the connections made along the way.
Building a meditation practice is a way to protect mind and body. Meditation allows us to strengthen qualities peace, clarity, awareness and resilience. It is a foundational aspect of sanity and balance. Especially in these hectic and challenging times, these are resources we can rely on. As Black people embarking on this meditation journey together, we will bring healing, peace and power into our gathering and we will be able to renew those qualities in the communities to which we return.
Lodging for this retreat will be provided free of charge in the home of a Seattle Our Peace, Our Power participants.
Friday, August 28 - Participants arrive in Seattle before 6pm and met with their lodging hosts. Dinner and drinks will be provided by our Seattle hosts beginning at 7pm.
Saturday, August 29 - Morning: Breakfast provided at the venue, Meditation, Presentation by Dr. Damita Brown, Discussion.
Lunch This will be an order in lunch followed by a group outdoor walking meditation practice session.
The afternoon will consist of sitting and walking meditation practice, small group discussions and resources sharing.
Sunday, August 30 - Breakfast provided at the venue. Meditation and walking meditation. Farewell address and parting exercise.
